When I first started working with Kathryn, it was the first time I had worked with someone about emotional issues via phone. I was concerned if I could have the connection I needed without working in person. I was won over in the first session ! I don't know how Kathryn does it, but she is so intuitive, even without sitting across from me.
After only a couple of sessions, Kathryn uncovered deep emotional issues I had buried since childhood. Twenty years ago, I went through 5 years of intensive traditional therapy and never found the cause to so many of my issues. Now, Kathryn had done this in only a few hours...truly amazing.
Even across the phone lines, I can sense her genuine concern. And for me, so important, she makes me laugh at what I thought was monumental. It is like she has this zap machine that disintegrates a giant problem
into manageable pebbles.
E.F.T. stands for 'Emotional Freedom Techniques', a form of Energy Psychology.
It is a combination of physical bodywork (tapping upon certain acupressure points) and a structured and specific dialogue about the problem concerned. Both the MIND and BODY are directed and involved in the process.
The techniques enable the processing of trapped emotional energy, which is held in the mind and body ( commonly called ‘emotional baggage’). An improved perception of the event or issue is then experienced. This newly created relaxed state alleviates pain or physical conditions. Emotional, psychological and behavioural problems can be resolved. When E.F.T. is directed at the root of the problem with skill, these improvements can be permanent.
E.F.T. can also remove limiting beliefs held at a subconscious level, such as ‘I am not good enough’, or ‘I am a failure’. It can free a person from unwanted emotional responses such as anger, sadness and fear. This brings a vast number of physiological and psychological benefits.
E.F.T. can be used for self-help purposes. The techniques are easily learnt, yet are highly effective for such things as pain and emotional upsets.
For more serious issues it is advised to work with an experienced practitioner.
E.F.T. has been shown to work far more effectively than even Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. This is because we cannot easily change our thoughts, until our emotions have been processed and resolved.
What are emotions?
As a culture we have been encouraged to resist and ignore many of our feelings, and so it is not surprising that until recently, we knew so little about them. Science has now shown emotions to involve brain chemistry, and also ‘energy’.
Negative emotions can be seen as disturbances in our energy field, like static, caused by our thoughts/ beliefs. They arise when our subconscious mind perceives a threat. This causes the primitive fight, flight or freeze mechanism to be activated. If this energy is not used up, it remains in our systems, causing problems. E.F.T. enables us to safely release this energy.
Emotions also have biological components, rather like hormones, that enter our bloodstream, interact with our cells, and so establish a crucial link between our mind and body.
Emotions are literally the bridge between the things we think about and believe in, and our physical health.
Emotions far from being irrelevant and rather insubstantial are actually helpful barometers that we can use to give us insight into our problems and point the way to our healing.
