What is EFT?
EFT is a global phenomenon, and one that is spreading at a remarkable rate around the world. It is revolutionising healthcare, and literally transforming lives every day, with a speed and efficiency that is truly remarkable. It is a technique that is at first glance very simple, and yet it works to dissolve long held and unconscious destructive patterns within the belief system, that inhibit a person physically, mentally and emotionally.
Where did EFT come from?
In 1980, a psychologist in the U.S., called Dr. Roger Callahan, was struggling to make any headway with a patient of his. She had suffered with a water phobia since childhood, and it was so severe that she could not even bathe without becoming extremely distressed. He had used many techniques and drawn on all his expertise to banish the phobia, to no avail. After a year of working with Mary he was at his wits end, and out of sheer frustration one day, decided to try an experiment.
Knowing of the existence of Meridians - the energy pathways in the body utilised in Acupuncture - he asked Mary to think about her fear, and began to tap a point underneath her eye, which corresponds to the end of a particular meridian. The result was extraordinary. Within two minutes Mary exclaimed that her fear had gone, and testing of this proved that her fear was not only gone, but did not return.
Realising that something vitally important had occurred, Dr Callahan went on to refine the technique, which in time he developed into TFT, or Thought Field Therapy. TFT uses algorithms ( specific patterns of tapping on particular meridian points) depending on the problem that needs to be solved.
In the early 1990's, Gary Craig, one of Callahans former students, simplified the algorithms, and created 'E.F.T.' which has become the best known and most easily applied of the energy medicine techniques to date, used to solve all manner of problems, from the simple to the complex, as we will see.
