Moving Forward
For many people, a life with no pain, or no nagging problem is all they dream of, and they are happy when it has gone. For others, there is a sense of realisation - that if I can change things in this way, then what else can I achieve with EFT? Could I use it to help me move forward with my life? Again, the answer to this is 'yes!'
Dr. Robert Schuller
EFT can be extraordinarily useful for goal setting, and overcoming the self limiting beliefs that stop us achieving beliefs such as:-
- "I'm not good enough/clever enough"
- "I'm not wealthy enough" '
- "I'm not popular enough" etc.
Most of us have some of these beliefs in our subconscious minds. They act as very efficient brakes, holding us back, keeping us in our 'comfort zones' - even though these may not be comfortable at all! Our lack of conviction about our own abilities are more often than not just perceptions of ourselves that are totally inaccurate. Usually they are echoes of comments from parents, teachers, siblings and friends- very rarely are our beliefs about ourselves purely our own. Even if they are ours, they are usually assumptions that we have made based upon the behaviour of other people in the past. If we are honest, our opinions of ourselves can often be very outdated and in need of a major overhaul!
Here EFT comes into its own enabling a person to uncover the beliefs that hold them back, and change them to empowering ones. It can make a vast difference to believe.
- "I CAN do it"
- "I am easily able to learn new things"
- "I am able to make new friends"
- "I am full of confidence and enthusiasm"
Aldous Huxley
Sometimes people exclaim ' but I don't know what I want!' This is usually because they have not taken the time to really think about their lives. Fast forwarding to your old age is a good way of determining whether you are fulfilled or not- if more of the same for the rest of your life seems good, then you have no need to use EFT for change - if the thought is mildly disturbing maybe you should consider it, and if it is rather horrifying then you definitely do!
